Our Greatest Mission...

This is what makes it all worthwhile!!  Before proper care and treatment, each of these animals had no hope of survival.  Now, they have new homes with very special people who opened their hearts to give them a second chance at happiness .

Corrina had a seven pound, non-cancerous, tumor removed from her abdomen.

Sasha was hit by a car and suffered a broken leg.

Sandy became very depressed after being abandoned at a boarding kennel.

Peaty was a young boxer puppy who was poisoned with a caustic chemical. After days of intensive care and almost a week on an IV, Peaty was finally able to swallow food again. Although it took a few months of recovery, he is now adopted in a forever home.

One of our most special cases---Teddy!

Teddy is a sweet Dandi Dinmont Terrier with cancer.  After his first surgery, a large amount of the tumor was removed, but there was still an inoperable portion affixed to his bladder.  Since our donations-only funding is so limited, we could not afford an evaluation by a veterinary oncologist, nor could we provide  life-extending treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Although he was happy, pain-free and doing well, he would only have a few months to live without treatment.. Unfortunately, due to our desperate need of foster homes, he was living at the shelter. We posted a plea on our website for a caring person who would give Teddy love and companionship for the time he had left. We hoped Teddy would make his final journey while spending his remaining days in someone's home, rather than in a kennel. A wonderful, kind-hearted woman (who wishes to remain anonymous) read our plea for Teddy and adopted him. Teddy's new Mom informed us that Teddy has seen the oncologist and is now receiving the chemotherapy we were not able to provide.  Here is a recent picture of Teddy, lounging by the pool in his new back yard. He looks wonderful! We pray they have a long time left to be together.

UPDATE: Teddy enjoyed his wonderful new home and although he received the best of medical care, he finally succumbed to the cancer about 8 months later.  Teddy was special to us and will always be our mascot.  We will always remember Teddy and the wonderful lady who opened her heart and her home to him.
